what an ungly hard landing!
Tough aeroplane, great sound! I hear something else in the background exercising its cs prop ( 0-540 Lyc maybe?? ). Just imagine this Zenair/Corvair with a cs prop, mmmm cs prop droool ( sorry Homer ). Anyway, great aeroplane!!
it was definitively not a good landing
hit the ground pretty hard there
@Bagadaboats Mainly because the exhaust is different between the two, and also the propeller makes a fair amount of noise that you wouldn’t hear with a car.
So how did the Corvair turn out? Was there enough power. How about the weight and balance? I’m thinking of doing a 701/ corvair combination. I understand the 750 would be better for the corvair but i like the 701 for the way the wings fold.
thats a testament to the rugged gear that zenith uses.
y do airplane piston engine startups and car engine startups sound different if they use a very similar engine
was that a good landing?
Those wandering about “Car” engines in air craft, look it up in Wiki or Google. Some use Subaru engines as well for instance.
how much did it cost you altogether
@spyderman1964 I loved every Corvair I ever owned. Am rebuilding a ’63 now and plan to drive it daily when I’m done.
Put a Packard V-1650 (p-51 mustang engine) in the thing nice plane I hope to get the 801 stol
As rough as that landing looks, it’s the best example I’ve seen of what this landing gear assembly can absorb.
how many horses does that engine have?
2:34 – 2:37 …I COULD LISTEN TO THAT ALL DAY
I felt that landing in my kidneys, OUCH!!
@dirtTdude
What are you talking about, the Corvair won car of the year in 1960 and then went on to have a total production of almost 1.8 million cars. They were not produced to compete with VW, they were competition with other us compacts. Most 1960 Corvairs had gas heaters as standard and the worked very well and it was an option until 1963. There is a reason that the Corvair still has a large following, they were and are good, fun, reliable cars. 1.8 million cars what a flop. LOL
hard landing inspection required
Cost of airplane and engine?
the landind is very bad….
very bad landing!!!
Good Job!
Sounds and looks superb!
ya but wouldn’t that be more speed?
To this I would like to ad a big fat WRONG. Corvairs, (Even though they were only made for 10 years0 have to be the best vehicles ever made. And they were made for one resion, to make a sporty compact car with great gas mileage and great performance.
